Thermodynamic properties of working fluid (vapors)
Q1/ Find the missing
properties of steam in the following table. Q2/ Steam at the critical state in a rigid vessel. The vessel is cooled until the pressure is 27.5 bar. Calculate the final quality of steam. Ans.(0.0272) Q3/ A rigid vessel contains liquid water and steam at 1 bar. Determine the proportions by volume of liquid and steam necessary to make it pass through the critical state when heated?
Ans.(70%,30%) Q4/ A boiler feed water pump delivers 50 Kg/s of water at 300C and 20 Mpa. What is the volume flow rate? What would be the percentage of error if the properties of saturated liquid at 300C are used in the calculations? What if the properties of saturated liquid at 20 Mpa are used?
Ans.(0.06798m3/s,3.236%,49.7%) Q5/A mass of wet steam at temperature 165C is expanded at constant quality 0.8 to pressure 3 bar. It is then heated at constant pressure to a degree of superheated of 66.5 C. Find the enthalpy and entropy changes during expansion and during heating.
Ans.(-57.7kj/kg, 0.1628 kj/kg.K, 573.1 kj/kg, 1.3836 kj/kg.K) Q6/A vessel volume 10 m3 contains 40 kg of liquid water vapor in equilibrium 7 bar. Calculate:
1- Volume and mass of liquid.
2- Volume and mass of vapor.
3- Dryness fraction
Ans.(0.0046m3/kg, 3.36 kg, 0.273 m3/kg, 36.64kg,0.916)
