Logic and methodology of design – Lecture 6

The science that studies the methods and principles applications procedure followed in design activity generally the main concern of this topic is:
1- What is design?
2- How could implement the design?
First design methodology: designer brain as black box : The methodology depends on the sequence of three steps : 1- Quick analysis 2- Creating concept 3- Developing
Black box method main features : 1- Ambiguities of design thinking: 2- The sequence of design thinking: 3- the main design decision made in the beginning which focus on architectural composition that related with l aesthetic characters of building masses and the relation between them 4- Almost design concepts created by this methodology are ingenuity concepts (so it called ingenious methodology)
Design methodology outline:
-There were Several theories explain the outline of design operation , one of them explain design as individual action depend upon designer prediction ability and the inspiration range he has which all methodology principles and systematic procedures disappear , the other see that it is a systematic sequence of many steps deal with the traditional methods or new ,it present clear and limited approach for products and the steps of production.
- Designers in the near past depended upon and use intuitive design method; they realize that design capability is human act inside the brain and could not be taught
