Structure II
Introduction:
Checking adequacy of structural members to withstand forces applied on them without excessive deformations is an essential part of structural design. This term provides an introduction to structural design according to limit state design principles and presents detailed design checks for different types of reinforced concrete structural elements, according to ACI-code 2014. The intended learning outcomes are to enable students to develop an understanding of the requirements of structural design and the ability to design simple concrete structural elements.

Second term
Structure II
Introduction:
Students study the fundamentals of structural steel design in addition to understand the concept of design RC slabs especially for one way slab. This course is an extension of the study of the concepts learned in Strength of Materials (Structure I). The theoretical and allowable stresses are evaluated and compared for compliance with AISC LRFD Code and the American Concrete Institute Code. Design of tension and compression members will be discussed in the end of this term.
